The second largest Internet Exchange in Europe is to be found in Amsterdam. PLANT has secured its network inside the Amsterdam Science Park, which is directly linked to the European Internet backbone. An Internet exchange is a connectivity point where various networks and service providers come together and interconnect with each other (peer). At the moment Paris and Frankfurt both have similar upcoming Internet exchanges with the London and Amsterdam Internet exchanges leading the way in Europe. The largest Internet exchange is situated in Washington.

Our offices and server room is situated mere meters from the AMS-IX peering point. Our location has tremendous advantages : greatly reduced costs, network speed, reliability and quality of our redundant fiber Internet link. Also, due to our favorable location we have a large quantity of bandwidth available.

Our server room is access controlled, secured, air conditioned and also has anti-static flooring.  Clients making use of this facility must take note that all client servers must comply with the 19" specifications

The cost of hosting your own server (also called housing or co-location) is £ 60,- (excluding 19 VAT). This is calculated based on 1 RU (rack unit). Then minimum must also be taken into account for bandwith.

Bandwidth

PLANT determines the bandwidth billing as follows: every 5 minutes the actual usage is recorded. The highest 5 peaks are removed from the recorded usages, and the highest peak of the remaining 95% of recorded usage is used in the calculation for bandwidth charges.

· 128 kbps £ 30,- per month, burstable to 1 mbps
· 256 kbps £ 48,- per month, burstable to 2 mbps
· 512 kbps £ 96,- per month, burstable to 3 mbps
· 1 Mbit £ 188,- per month, burstable to 4 mbps
